Britain has a rich tradition of Comics Convention Souvenir Magazines, dating back to the late
1960s. But, thanks to a major marketing campaign, this year will mark the first time the magazine
will be professionally produced and aimed at people within and outside of the event.

Through the auspices of Quality Communications Limited (
www.qualitycommunications.co.uk) the
Comic Expo Brighton 2005 Souvenir Magazine will be a true memento of the event, a collectable
keepsake packed with interesting facts, features and a wide range of scarce or previously unseen
artwork by leading creators.

The format will be standard A4 size, full colour throughout on high quality stock and will feature a
range of articles including:

  • Convention sketches over the decades, with work by such top names as Jack Kirby, Will
Eisner, Joe Kubert, Barry Windsor-Smith, Wally Wood, Jeff Jones, Vaughn Bode, John
Romita Sr, Walt Simonson, Mike McMahon, Dave McKean, Dave Gibbons and Brian
    Bolland.

  • A profusely illustrated history of UK comics conventions going all the way back to the first-
ever UK gathering in Birmingham, 1968.

  • A special art gallery section on UK Golden Age Greats including little seen convention
booklet art by Mick Anglo, Frank Bellamy, John M. Burns, Ron Embleton, Frank Hampson,
Brian Lewis, Don Lawrence, Dennis McLoughlin, Mike Noble, Keith Watson, and H Stanley
White – Britain’s first ever science fiction comics artist.

  • Expo Guests Directory, all with mugshots so you will be able to recognise your favourite
creators. Each entry will be accompanied by capsule biographies detailing their key work.

  • Where to Go in Brighton: Bring the family! While you’re wrapped up in comics, games,
animation, toys and movies, there’s more going on outside the Hilton Metropole than your
family can possibly pack into a single weekend.

Plus features, listings and much more.

A key aspect of Brighton's Comic Expo is its outreach programme. As well as attracting existing
fans, a major advertising and promotion campaign is being geared up both to bring the event to the
attention of the media and to draw in the curious and the casual readers. Brighton having such a
strong creative community and thriving arts-led colleges makes it the ideal catchment area for new
readers, all of whom will receive a free copy of our widely distributed Souvenir Magazine

In an attempt to make advertising as inexpensive and comprehensive as possible to allow for a full
range of companies and traders to appear, we have cut the rates to the absolute minimum to make
this possibly the best buy of the year! Note that all advertisements will be printed in full colour.

Note that full page advertisements can have the background colour scheme running to full
(trimmed) page depth and width. If using this facility, please add 5mm/0.15" on all four sides to
allow for movement in the paper when printing, otherwise thin white edges may appear.

Half page ads must sit within the stated type area with no additional bleed art.

SPECIAL POSITIONS:
All bookings at above rates are taken as run of paper. Prices for key positions are as follows:

Full page advertisement, inside front cover         £250
Full page advertisement, inside back cover         £225
Back cover advertisement (art must run to bleed)        £300
UK advertisers please note that VAT will be added to your invoice at 17.5%.
